2008 has been a year governed by legislation as far as driving is concerned.
We have had the Road Safety Act come into force, Corporate Manslaughter and CPC for bus drivers.
All these pieces of legislation are affecting driver's in all occupations whether that be a field sales representative or the response driver. Minding Driving has created an accredited award for response drivers ( private ambulance ). The details are below:
Behavioural Aspects of Driving-Stage 1
We have a philosophy at Minding Driving that if an individual can develop their driver attitude, then we can develop their driver skills at a later date.
The seminar lasts for 90 minutes and is delivered at a customer’s location at a suitable time and date. We can deliver the session to a maximum of 30 delegates at one time.
We include attitude/behaviour/lifestyle/driver pressure and issues relevant to response driving during the seminar. Delegates are encouraged to interact and ask questions, whilst watching videos and PowerPoint presentation. The presentation is tailored to the customer.
All delegates receive a certificate of attendance as this is used as evidence for the two day ASET course.
Advanced Driving-Stage 2
The minimum standard of driving that is required is advanced driving. If delegates already hold this qualification we can APL it, providing it is recent. We will accept IAM, ROSPA, IHCD and EFAD as minimum driving standards. If not Minding Driving can deliver advanced driving, using the delegate’s vehicle, basing the instruction on a two delegate to one trainer ratio. We use this ratio as delegates will receive more tuition and they will have a better level of driving in order to complete the response part of the award. Once again we will travel to the delegates location to deliver the training.
Home Study Pack-Stage 3
Delegates enrol with Minding Driving for the ASET course and they are then sent a Home Study Pack to complete. Realistically this will take between 5 to 9 hours to complete. The Home Study pack enables delegates to have a grounding for the legislation, provides information and questions, so as this can be placed in the portfolio for evidence. The theory in this pack is reinforced during the practical ASET course.
Most of the pack will be completed prior to attending the practical course, however the trainers will gladly oblige if there are any questions.
ASET Level 3- Stage 4
This is run over 2 days, at a delegate’s location, using the customer’s vehicle and run on a two delegate to one trainer ratio. Delegates will receive both theory and practical inputs during the two days. During the two days delegates will receive approximately 5 hours each of blue light instruction. The whole process is evidenced to prove competency. Once the course is completed the portfolios are submitted via Minding Driving to our Internal Verifier and then we are audited by ASET. Minding Driving maintains a data-base containing all the relevant dates and information and is available to the customer if requested.
The course follows the DSA guidelines and the relevant sections of the Road Safety Act 2006.
Fees
The cost of the Behavioural Seminar is £285+VAT up to a maximum of 20 delegates. Travelling is charged at 25p per mile and accommodation (if required) is sourced at a reasonable rate.
Advanced Driving based on a two delegate to one trainer ratio is £225+VAT. Travelling at 25p per mile and accommodation is extra. There is also a fee of £48 per delegate for ROSPA test fee and membership.
ASET Level 3 is £225+VAT per day on a two delegate to one trainer ratio. Travelling is charged at 25p per mile and accommodation is extra. There is a fee of £50 per delegate for accreditation and registration.
All the trainers are current Police Driving Instructors with many years driving experience and are all ADI qualified.
I hope the above provides an insight into the award and how it gradually builds up into the Level 3 Award. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
Regards
George
